A bit about me...Future Author (I hope)!

Hi All,

So I know that I haven't really introduced myself, highly rude of me! So sorry!

Okay, where to begin? My name is not Alice, it was my late Nan's name...I decided to use it because I am somewhat at risk of being outed on a large scale if I use my given name, you see, I am a Computing Teacher. Any teacher who may read this will know how quickly word can travel within a school and it would be lovely to have a bit of anonymity for once.I also have other motivations, which any person who writes will surely understand? This is like my diary - a part of me that I do not wish everyone to see on a wide scale whilst still unvarnished. Which is the whole point in this blog in the first place to be honest (for the feedback!). Being a teacher - feedback is important to me. I feel like this is a laughable point but unless you are a teacher I don't think you will find it funny (har har).

Anyway, I am 23 years old (sadly, I am 24 in exactly 3 weeks today) and have established a career and been to university, attempted to gain some independence along the way and created myself a fall back plan...however, writing has always been something of a dream. I had an idea for my book a very long time ago, I started to plan it  when I was roughly 14 and it's developed and evolved along the way. The Connie whom I originally started to write about is nothing like the Constance that is the main character in my book. Please feel free to ask me about the changes, I still love some of my original ideas for Connie and her amazingness!

Now, some of you may have noticed that it's summer (unless you are in the UK like myself and do not have a summer)...therefore the SUMMER HOLIDAYS which is why I am currently writing and finding the time to actually attempt to live my dream, however it's very difficult to do so when you are starting from the bottom (as I am sure many of you are aware), so please feel free to read my excerpts from my book and the back story of some of the characters, I am developing them along the way! Also, any input from you guys will be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks in advance!

Braxton

Braxton is one of my characters in Smallbites...He's a complicated character but definitely one of my favourites! 
This is sort of what I picture him looking like...

Grey the....

If I had to put a face to one of my favourite characters he'd look something like this:

It suits his character that he's not smiling. It's rare to see or experience Grey smiling. Ever.

Smallbites

My gutsy, furry, best friend and her pals. That's what this blog is about...maybe I should have explain before I posted about Grey.

Essentially this is a blog with everything relating to Smallbites. What is Smallbites you ask? It may or may not be a book I am writing...if you know me and you are reading this then keep it to yourself, it's a bit weird because this is like my diary but I just had to share it. If you don't know me...hey! Hope you like it...when I eventually post some of Smallbites. What I have so far is a back story for one of my characters (well more of an intro to the back story).

I don't know if I can post all of Smallbites in here cause it's getting on for 35k words now and I'm not sure if there's a limit?

Any advise for making this blog lark work is very welcome as I am totally confused with what I am doing right now...

Thanks in advance guys and gals!

P.S not sure if I should be using a pen name...oh dear.

P.P.S totally not happy with the font choices!

P.P.P.S trying to get the hang of this so I can post more stuff from my book!

The tale of O'Leary's.

This can't be Grey?

Grey had not had a good day. He was ready for a beer or two! He didn't normally hang out with the Wolves but his partner had just turned 30 and he'd been invited to O'Leary's for a few casual drinks with the bottom feeders. He was happy he was even on the list of people to invite. However he didn't really socialise with any of them other than Tom, the other human in the group and he felt kind of out of place tonight.

This evening was his time to chill. He'd had a busy shift today and was off shift for another 54 hours. He was already planning his time off and was looking forward to starting it in his favourite bar and ending it in bed, whether that was his or Gina's he didn't care and didn't really care for the bits in between to be honest...he mainly just wanted to be in bed. O'Leary's with the Wolves wasn't ranking high on his priorities at this moment in time.

The bar itself was quirky and frequented by humans mostly. However the odd Wolf did enter. Not normally as many as were in there this evening though and people were beginning to stare. The Wolves were getting more rowdy with every drink and the humans around them were starting to resent it, most of them couldn't afford to get that drunk that quickly and especially didn't like to have their places messed with. He could spot looks of scorn being thrown around. He could also spot the serious threat that was lurking beneath the surface of the other patrons. He knew that no one was stupid enough to start a fight with a Wolf. No human was anyway. But that didn't stop the looks being thrown around. Soon one of the wolves would notice and the bar would erupt and it was in his best interest, and the that of the other humans, to get the wolves out of there. Plus, it was his favourite bar after all...and he didn't want it smashed to pieces because of his colleagues.

Grey downed his drink, hoping that if he started the group moving towards the door, the others might follow, sadly, the only thing that it did was make the rest of the group drink even faster. He wasn't normally the talkative type but after trying several more strategies to get the group out of the door he seemed to have hit a brick wall and the only thing he had achieved was even more drinking. He was starting to feel fuzzy in the head when a big, burly lad clapped him on the shoulder.

"Don't you think you oughta take your buddies out of here pal?" The big guy looked down at Grey, clearly not phased that he was obviously part of the hierarchy and clearly above him in the pecking order of the New World. The big guy smiled down at him but he knew an order when he heard one and this guy wasn't just suggesting they move out of the bar. "Your friends are getting rowdy and some of the patrons here are just looking for a quiet drink..." Grey could practically see the guys fur bristling at the rowdiness of the wolves and could feel the tension in the air building, this guy was not one to mess with and Grey knew that if the wolves smelt a threat all hell would break loose. Grey knew that the others thought he was obviously the main culprit here, in the eyes of the other patrons he was a traitor, he could see the glares he was receiving from the others. Evidently they had noticed that he liked to come here on his days off (just like the wolves) and had put two and two together to equal wolves.

He shirked the big guys hand off his shoulder, shrugging away from him and taking a step back. All he really intended to do was turn to the wolves and grab their attention, maybe just tell them he was bored and wanted to move on, maybe he would have convinced them that they were bored? He didn't really know because he never got chance to find out. Before he had finished his pivot the big guy had grabbed him by both shoulders and moved him sideways, out of the way of an incoming fist. That was all it took...all hell did break loose and his favourite bar would be smashed to bits within minutes. He loved this bar too.

That was when he felt the softness of something silky pressing against his back, shortly before he felt the vibration of a gurgling growl rush up his back. He had never felt or heard a sound like it and all of a sudden, he was less worried about the wolves tearing into the humans and more bothered about his own ass and whatever was behind him. That noise sent shivers up his spine and down to his feet as he turned faster than he ever thought he was capable of. What he saw next almost stopped him in his tracks, however his fight or flight instinct urged him to run, this enemy was too big and too ferocious to do anything with other than flee.

He was looking at the chest of a bear. A bear. A huge, magnificent, ferocious and scary as hell bear.
